Most sports are held for some
purposes. Sports are types of lesuire and enjoyment activities. In addition
sports are beneficial for human health, and keep humans fit. All over the world we can see many kinds of sports and
different types of competitions. We enjoy watching and following
some of this sport. Formula 1 racing is one of these competitions. Its a sport which
required high concentration, talent and fit personS.
Formula1 began in 1946 and the name
of Formula1 is related to the rules with all participants and cars must comply.FIA refers to Federation International Automobile is controlled the
rules of F1 chamionship. Before the first
race many meeting and discussions were held to establish the driver’s championship. The first world championship race was started in
1950 and it was held at Silverstone in England.
The Formula was controlled by major manufactures such as Alfa Romeo,
Ferrari, Maserati and Mercedes Benz. In that time till 1957, one driver named Juan
Manuel Fangio was the driver who won the drivers' championship in 1951,
1954, 1955, 1956 and 1957 with five different manufacturers.
The formula1 cars required some
advanced technology to give the ability to increase the speed in the beginnig it
was built with small engines and thin tires, and the engine was fitted in the
front of the car, but some other manufactures is introduced rear engine car
such as Cooper. This change helped Cooper to win World Championship titles for Jack Brabham in 1959 and 1960. The
engine capacity of most of the cars was not so big. It was 1.5 liters
supercharged or 4.5 liters normally aspirated engine and others were 2.5 liters.
Mercedes Benz made many improvements and developments till 1955. The development
of cars continued to make the cars faster. In 1970 a new innovation was introduced
by the driver Lotus' Jochen Rindt. The idea was called ground affect technology.
The late 1980s and early 1990s
saw great innovations in computer-aided devices. Lotus first introduced the
computer-controlled active suspension in 1987, which was followed by many other
innovations, such as semi-automatic gearboxes, anti-lock brakes, launch control
and traction control - power steering was banned in 2002 and launch control was
banned in 2004 by FIA, saying that it detracted from the driver's skill. Now
technology was advancing so fast and so greatly that they were questioning the
driver's ability. In addition the car body changed a lot over the years, it’s
become smaller and very attractive.
F1 Car racing is so enjoyable but
it’s very risky. The drivers have to have the ability to control the car of
high speed under the worst conditions. The history of F1 racing shows many
deaths, and a lot of accidents happened during the race. The FIA developed many
safety rules to reduce the accidents and deaths. Safety has not always been a paramount concern in
Formula One racing, and there have been many tragedies -- both for drivers and
spectators. In the last few decades, however, much has been done to protect
racers and their fans from serious injury. Formula One employs hundreds of people at each race to help
ensure the safety of drivers and spectators. Nowadays accidents have been reduced a lot, compared with the past. For example Formula One keeps two special cars, the safety car and the
medical car on hand at each race. The safety car slows up the race in the event
of a crash or other incident. When the safety car is on the track, the field
must slow down behind it, with the leader in front. No driver can try to
overtake another in such a situation. The medical car is used to rush doctors
and rescue personnel to a driver who is injured during a race. On the other hand
the improvement in the construction of the F1 circuit has helped a lot. The
racing ground is made from special materials, it’s different from a normal road. . Science innovated
special tires for F1 racing. It makes the car more stable in the road
and increased the speed .
There are many F1 Circuits all over
the world. There are some famous circuits for example:
1-Circuit Gilles Villeneuve –
Montreal Quebec Canada. Named after the famous F1 driver and father of Jacques
Villeneuve is located on a man made island in the Saint Lawrence River.
2-Autodromo National Monza. Located in a small
town called Monza just north of Milan this circuit opened on September 3, 1922.
This is a fast track built with fast corners and 5 long straights.
3- Silverstone is nicknamed the
"Home of British Motor Racing".
4-Monaco Grand Prix is usually
called Monte Carlo because the bulk of the street circuit is inside Monte
Carlo. With 18 turns, tight corners, elevation changes and of course the famous
tunnel.
In general F1 racing is the kind of sport
where people can engoy watching it.
